Endometriosis

Endometriosis

Resolving back pain may also improve nerve supply to reproductive organs, improving fertility.
Women's health issues image. At first, it may appear to be coincidental. You are having trouble becoming pregnant and you also have a problem with low back pain. Are they related? Can low back pain actually be a factor? The answer to the first question may be "yes," while the answer to the second question is more along the lines of, "The cause of your infertility may also be the cause your lower back pain."

Many women have problems conceiving because of a condition known as endometriosis. In fact, endometriosis is the cause for 30-40% of female infertility. This condition occurs when uterine tissue, known as endometrium, attaches itself to tissue and organs outside the uterus, including other reproductive organs, the bladder and the gastrointestinal tract. While the primary symptom of endometriosis is painful menstruation, back pain may result as well.

Obviously, it is imperative for you to see a health care professional when either one or both of these conditions are present. If your diagnosis is endometriosis, chiropractic care may reduce much of the pain and discomfort associated with it. In addition, several chiropractic case studies have documented cases in which infertile women have become pregnant after starting chiropractic care.

A Nutrition Response Testing analysis will identify the precise nutrients that your body needs to fully repair itself.  Our experience in a wide variety of cases that if you are a Nutrition Response Testing case, it is our belief that nothing else will help you as much.

Growing Pains

Don't let growing pains keep your child from having a ball!
Children's health issues image.Your five-year old complains that her legs hurt and the pain sometimes disturbs her sleep at night. Your mother laughs it off as "growing pains" and tells you to relax, she'll grow out of it. But are there really such a things as "growing pains"?

Up to 40% of children in early childhood (3-5 years of age) and early adolescence (8-12 years of age) experience growing pains. They mostly occur in the late afternoon or early evening, although they have been known to wake a sleeping child.

Generally, the pain is located in muscles in the calves, thighs, or behind the knees. The pain typically occurs in both legs and there is no swelling or redness present.

Of course, if your child is experiencing pain, it is wise to rule out other causes, especially if any of the following symptoms are also present:

  • Limping
  • Fever
  • Redness or swelling of the joints (knees or ankles)
  • Pain that won't go away
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue
Often, a visit to our practice will uncover a spinal problem that may be contributing to your child's pain. Chiropractic adjustments are modified to take the size of the child into consideration. Many children seem to enjoy better health and a decrease in pain after beginning chiropractic care in our practice.

Please let us know if your child is experiencing any type of pain for which a cause cannot be found. We will be happy to examine your child to determine whether there is any type of spinal nerve interference that could be a contributing factor. We do not believe that any child should have to live with "growing pains."

Lumbar Control Panel

Digestive problems? Taking care of the spine might just take care of that bellyache as well!

Backaches and sciatica image.
The lumbar region of the spine, more commonly referred to as the “lower back,” is often the source of many health problems we see. This area of the spine serves as the distribution center for your brain’s control and regulation of many important organs and tissues. And while the nervous system is very complex and every organ or tissue has multiple nerve supplies, here’s a new way of thinking about many common health complaints.

If a patient suffers from constipation or other digestive issues, we’ll be especially vigilant in our examination of the area of L1 (the first lumbar vertebrae), since this is the source of many nerve communications that control the large intestines.

Do you suffer from varicose veins, cramps or poor bladder control?
The nerves that exit the spine in the vicinity of L2 control the appendix, abdomen, bladder and upper legs.

Irregular/painful periods, impotency, miscarriages, knee pain? L3 nerves are involved with the bladder, sexual organs, uterus and knees.

How about sciatica, painful/frequent urination or backaches? L4 could be involved since the nerves there control the prostate gland and lower back muscles.

And if you experience leg cramps, cold feet, or swollen/weak ankles or legs, some of the nerves exiting at L5 could be the culprits. L5 controls the lower legs, ankles and feet.

So it’s clear that the lumbar spine and its associated nerves affect numerous parts of the body. Many of the sensations you feel in your feet, legs, pelvis, lower abdomen and lower back travel through the nerves of the lumbar spine to higher regions of the spine on their way to your brain.

If you’re experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned here, or know someone who is, please urge them to visit our practice for a thorough Chiropractic examination and Nutrition Response Testing Analysis.

Pillow Talk

Does Your Pillow Support the Natural Curve in Your Neck?

Headaches and neck pain image.
You sleep eight hours a night and wake up with a sore neck, feeling like your get-up-and-go, got up and went! Did you ever think that your pillow might have something to do with it?

While a good night’s sleep starts with a quiet dark room and a comfortable mattress, how you sleep on that mattress really does matter. The muscles that support your neck and back during your waking hours need to get the proper rest to be able to do their job each day. Your pillow can play an important role.

As you might expect, the best position for sleep is lying on your side because it helps maintain the natural S-curve in your spine. Sleeping on your stomach is the worst - it arches the spine and makes the back and neck muscles work overtime, forcing your head to one side or the other all night long. Imagine walking around all day, only looking to your left! Not good.

If you’re a “stomach sleeper” and find it a difficult habit to break, what some have done is sewn a tennis ball or some other lightweight object, mid-torso on the front of their sleeping clothes. It’s not a fashion statement, but it can help break you of the habit.

If you are still having trouble based on your sleeping position, we can have a little pillow talk on your next visit.

Whole Body Health: Being Well

In the last few posts, I briefly discussed Whole Body Health and the three legs that make it up.  To summarize, taking responsibility for your health and the health of those that are closest to you involves 3 things :

1) Thinking Well – educate yourself
2) Moving Well – chiropractic will ensure that your Mind-Body connection is
                            functioning at 100%
3) Eating Well – NRT will quickly and accurately identify the stressor or toxin that your
body is exposed to and the precise nutrients that you body is lacking

Thinking Well, Moving Well, and Being Well.  This is your health insurance  The foods you eat, the exercises you do and regular chiropractic care will ensure your health for years to come.

People are dying too long and living too short. We are living longer and longer lives, but are we living longer because of drugs and technological advances or are we living longer because we are healthier?  We are being diagnosed younger and therefore living longer with cancers, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, etc.
Before we treat the pandemic of health problems facing our society, we must first find out what is causing them.  Treating the effects NEVER creates a solution.

The Three Legs of Whole Body Health Part 3: Eating Well

Today, I will continue the discussion on the Three Legs of Whole Body Health and discuss the third one: Eating Well.

Once your nervous system is free from interference, because you are receiving regular chiropractic adjustments, your Mind-Body connection can function at 100%.  Now all your body needs is the proper building blocks that you only get from Whole Food Nutrition.

The best drug company in the world is the human body.  It gives the right dosages at the right time every time.  All we have to do is give it the right raw materials.

Unfortunately, most people treat their bodies like a garbage can with a hairy lid.  We have synthetic bodies because we eat synthetic foods.  If you want an authentic body you need to eat authentic foods.

The Three Legs of Whole Body Health Part 2: Moving Well

Whole Body Health is composed of three distinct legs.  Today, I will discuss the second one: Moving Well.

Through a variety of chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological tests and x-rays, I check every patient for something that happens in the spine called a vertebral subluxation.  All of your nerves are extensions of your spinal cord and your spinal cord is a direct extension of your brain.  They are the same structure! Your nerves branch hundreds of thousands of times and go to every cell, tissue and organ of your body controlling function. Unfortunately, what can happen is the spine can get misaligned, which will put pressure on these nerves, disrupting the communication between the brain and the rest of the body.  When that happens it is called a vertebral subluxation.

Subluxations will lead to, among other things, headaches, dizziness, ringing in the ears, sinus/allergies, neck and shoulder pain, arthritis, pain and tingling arms, hands, legs and feet, thyroid dysfunction, asthma, stomach problems, constipation and the list goes on and on.

The cycle starts with immobilization of the joints. Once you get immobilization, there is thickening of all the ligaments and capsular material around the joints which causes compression of the joint and the cartilage. This causes damage to the cartilage and the bone which then causes more immobilization that puts it into a cycle that keeps on going and keeps on going and keeps on going. This cycle won’t stop until it is stopped!  They way that it is stopped is through adjustments and chiropractic care.

The Three Legs of Whole Body Health Part 1

Whole Body Health is composed of three distinct legs.  Today, I will discuss the first one: Thinking Well.

1) Thinking Well

Somebody died today because of the information that they didn’t know.  You won’t change the way you act unless you change the way you think.  People don’t act on what I say, they act on what they hear.  Pay attention!  Clarity empowers people and confusion paralyzes people.

Knowledge is power and that power stems from education.

There is nothing more devastating than having false beliefs about the source of health and illness.  There is nothing more powerful than learning the truth about the source of health and illness.

What is Whole Body Health?

If you are like most people who come to me for help, then most likely:
· You have one or more health conditions that won’t go away.
· You have visited doctors or even alternative practitioners but the results were not what you hoped or expected.
· Health conditions are significantly impacting your personal life, your relationships with your spouse or children, your career or job performance, and/or your personal finances.
· You realize that these conditions are not going to get better unless the real source of the problem is found and corrected.

If this describes your situation, then you’ve come to the right place!  Your chances of recovery have never been higher!
